How it
Welcome to the smooth side of app development.
Watch this 2-minute video to learn how Silk UI work!
Start from a Template
Download an App Template from the Forge. Each App Template already includes ready-to-use sample screens. Alternatively, you can use a pre-installed Base Template with a simple layout and UI elements.
Click “New Application” in Service Studio and select one of the Templates.
Customize your Theme
We know you want your app to have character. So start by uploading your brand logo to get an instant flawless theme, with just a few clicks. Your theme is automatically applied to all patterns, samples and components and the result is amazing!
Click “Customize” in any of the Templates on the website to open the Theme Customizer. The Customizer allows the app you imagined to see the light of day!
Now that your app is no longer a figment of your imagination, you
can extend it further with Samples and Patterns
Have a look at our amazing courses! As you learn more about our
development flow, it will be easier to deliver top-notch apps!
Learn to Build with OutSystems
Learn OutSystems your way. Follow a path or take a course. View webinars or read docs. And, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Remember, Frodo took three whole movies to get to Mordor, but it was worth it.
Copy Samples
Let’s get visual. Copy any of our samples with UI for different use cases to increase productivity. There are dozens of individual Screens or Screen Flows with complete end-to-end use cases already built.

Open the Samples Module and copy the ones you need into your application. Add some stitching and you’re good to go!
Drag Patterns
For a complete ego boost, make your app your own! Enhance it with UI Patterns and Components to address your scenario. Patterns are the pieces that build a screen interface, while Components provide increased functionality to your app, like social logins or real-time communication.

To use them, simply drag and drop from the Toolbox to your screen.
